Spanish Ministry Grows Beyond St. George’s, Summerville

The Spanish ministry at St. George’s, Summerville, under the leadership of Associate Priest for Spanish and Family Ministries la Reve Marivel Milien, is vibrant and growing! As efforts have continued to grow community engagement by meeting the Spanish-speaking community where they are, building relationships, and sharing the Gospel, the obvious lack of transportation to worship services has been a frequently raised concern.
To address this obstacle, and after much discernment, the three Episcopal churches in Summerville—St. George’s, Epiphany, and Good Shepherd—along with St. Thomas, North Charleston (in Park Circle), are excited to announce a partnership to bring Spanish worship services to more areas of our diocese.
Spanish services will continue to be held at St. George’s each Sunday at 1 pm, and beginning in September, Spanish services led by St. George’s clergy and staff will be hosted at 5 pm on the first and third Sundays of each month by Epiphany, Summerville, and at 5 pm on the second and fourth Sundays of each month by St. Thomas, North Charleston in Park Circle.
“We are exuberant about where God is leading and grateful for this opportunity to collaborate in ministry,” said the Rev. Michael Crandall, rector of St. George’s, Summerville. All are welcomed and encouraged to support this ministry by experiencing a Spanish worship service for yourself. Whether you are fluent in Spanish, speak a little, or speak no Spanish at all, you will feel the warmth of community, the joy of worship, and most certainly the presence of God.
