Clergy News: The Rev. Shawn Griffith Called to Bishop Gadsden

The Rev. Shawn Griffith was called late last year as associate chaplain at Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community, serving in the Gadsden Glen Center for Health and Rehab. Prior to his arrival, Shawn served for 20 years as the rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Gastonia, NC (in the Diocese of Western North Carolina). He also served as the rector of a three-parish cluster in Southern Virginia after graduating Virginia Theological Seminary in 2000. Shawn’s passion is around healthy church and clergy, and he has received formal education and credentials in leadership, congregational development, coaching, counseling, and conflict management.

Prior to entering full-time ministry, Griffith served 21 years in the United States Army. As a pilot and military intelligence officer, his unit played a critical role in Operation Desert Storm and other global assignments. Shawn plays the drums and is an avid golfer. He and his wife, Rosanne, have been married for over 51 years and have a son who lives in Savannah.
