The Rev. Randy Boone Ordained to the Priesthood

The Rev. Randell (Randy) Boone was ordained to the sacred order of priests on Saturday, December 13, by the Rt. Rev. Ruth Woodliff-Stanley at Grace Church Cathedral in Charleston. Ordained to the transitional diaconate in June, Rev. Boone began serving Grace Church Cathedral as the director of planned giving in 2019.

Rev. Boone’s path to the priesthood took a somewhat unconventional route. After serving for decades as an ordained Presbyterian minister, Randy was confirmed in The Episcopal Church by Bishop Barbara Harris in 2005 at St. Alban’s, Washington, D.C. Since then, he has been a lay member and participant in a number of Episcopal parishes, including Grace Church Cathedral, Charleston, where he has been since 2017. Also during those years, he served on staff in the area of development at Washington National Cathedral and Kanuga Camp & Conference Center.

It was wonderful to celebrate this newest priest of the Diocese of South Carolina on Saturday. See more photos from the service on the diocesan Facebook page at this link.
