The Rev. Eunice Dunlap Appointed Dean of the Pee Dee-Waccamaw Deanery

Bishop Ruth Woodliff-Stanley has appointed the Reverend Eunice Dunlap, vicar of St. Catherine’s, Florence, as Dean of the Pee Dee-Waccamaw Deanery. Reverend Dunlap succeeds the Right Reverend Wilmot Merchant II, rector of St. Stephen’s, North Myrtle Beach, who earlier this year was elected, ordained, and consecrated as a suffragan bishop in the Episcopal Church in Liberia. He recently returned to Liberia for two months, but will return to South Carolina in November to complete two final months with St. Stephen’s before he retires as their rector at the end of the year, completing his 25-year tenure there.

“Bishop Wilmot has always had a heart for the Pee Dee-Waccamaw Deanery,” said Bishop Woodliff-Stanley. “During his tenure as dean, he gathered the deanery, provided pastoral care to clergy and lay leaders, and was always ready to lend his support to congregations in his deanery. Rev. Eunice shares the same commitment to the deanery and brings a wonderful positive spirit to this ministry. An accomplished artist and church builder, Rev. Eunice will help us think outside the box and be entrepreneurs for the sake of the gospel.”

The Pee Dee-Waccamaw Deanery is the largest in our diocese extending from McClellanville and St. Stephen on it’s southern borders, north to Cheraw and North Myrtle Beach, including 12 congregations. Learn more about our deaneries on the diocesan website at this link.
