Diocesan Deputation Represents South Carolina at 81st General Convention

Bishop Ruth Woodliff-Stanley and our full diocesan deputation are in Louisville, Kentucky, for the 81st General Convention of The Episcopal Church. Legislative sessions began today after an opening Eucharist, and will continue through Friday. It is a joy to be together with representatives of more than 100 other dioceses of The Episcopal Church, including this year, the Diocese of Cuba! Please pray for the Houses of Bishops and Deputies this week as they consider the important issues facing the church.

The deputies representing our diocese were elected at Diocesan Convention in 2022. Deputies in the lay order are:

  • Andrea McKellar, St. Stephen’s, Charleston
  • Deb Harris, Holy Cross Faith Memorial, Pawleys Island
  • Sarah Tipton, Grace Church Cathedral, Charleston
  • Josh Bullock, Holy Cross Faith Memorial, Pawleys Island
  • Brent Watts (alternate), Holy Cross Faith Memorial, Pawleys Island

Deputies in the clergy order are:

  • The Rev. Adam Shoemaker, St. Stephen’s, Charleston
  • The Rev. Cn. Wilmot Merchant, St. Stephen’s, North Myrtle Beach
  • The Rev. Cn. Ramelle McCall, Diocesan Staff
  • The Rev. Bill Coyne, St. Stephen’s, Charleston
  • The Very Rev. Roy Tripp (alternate), St. Mark’s, Port Royal.

We are grateful for their willingness to serve our diocese and The Episcopal Church this week at this important triennial gathering.
