Bilingual Confirmation Highlights Bishop’s Visitation to St. George’s, Summerville

Bishop Ruth Woodliff Stanley visits St. George's, Summerville for bilingual confirmation

We’re pretty sure it was a first for our diocese on Sunday, May 17, when Bishop Ruth Woodliff-Stanley’s visitation to St. George’s, Summerville included a bilingual confirmation! St. George’s now offers a Spanish service each Sunday at 1 pm, led by the Rev. Marivel Milien, associate rector for Spanish and family ministries. The Rev. Michael Crandall, who serves as the church’s rector, has been fully committed to expanding the church’s Spanish ministries and this bilingual confirmation was a meaningful step on this journey!

For the bishop’s visitation on Sunday, St. George’s combined elements from their weekly traditional, modern and Spanish services to highlight all the ways the church worships regularly. The congregation has been experiencing healthy growth, now offering four services each Sunday (Rite I at 7:45 am, modern worship at 9:15 am, Traditional Rite II at 11:15, and a Spanish service (Español Rito II) at 1 pm).
